Two weeks of Luke

Just a small collections of photos from Luke's first 2 weeks of life. Things are busy here, with sleepless nights and active days with 4 kids. I feel like I am having a harder time adjusting than I did with the last baby. I don't know, I can't remember. It's either the fuzziness of time or the blur of sleepiness that is currently overtaking my body. I hope to help Luke adjust better to life sooner than later, if not for his sake, for my sanity!

Walt recieves his Wood Badge

Wood Badge is the one of the highest trainings you can take in the Boy Scout program as a leader. It is six days of intense training that also has participants draft a ticket (contract) of 5 items that they plan to accomplish to recieve their Wood Badge. Walt has been working on this for around a year and a half to accomplish all his ticket items. The boys and I were able to help in this ceremony on September 12th (1 week after Luke was born). Though it was difficult for me to be there, I am so proud of him and didn't want to miss it. He truly works hard and loves the Boy Scouts. The first picture is of Walt and other members of his Wood Badge patrol who recieved their Wood Badge that night too. The second is of Walt with his eldest brother Ric who recieved his Wood Badge six days prior to Walt.

Sugar for lunch?

Recipe for disaster

  • 4 children
  • 1nursing baby
  • lunch time
  • 2 independent attitudes

Combine all ingredients all at the same time and what you get is a disaster area and sugar for lunch!

Soccer mania

Saturday the 8th was the boys first Soccer game of the season. Ethan was quite the superstar. He is one of the oldest kids in his division, but I am almost positive he is the tallest. He is showing more skill this year. He scored about 5 goals, but we don't really keep score. The whole game is really about fun. This is Cameron's first year playing and he is fun to watch. He wants so badly to kick a goal. Hopefully, that will happen for him atleast once during the season.

Luke, I am your father!

In all the excitement of the first day of life I forgot to take a picture of Walt with Luke. Surely the family resemblence doesn't go unnoticed. Walt had been waiting for a couple of years before we got to have a Luke. He lovingly scooped him up after birth, and in a deep voice said, "Luke, I am your father." Now mind you, Walt didn't choose Luke's name, I did. He just insisted that it be Lucas and we call him Luke. So, just for the record, Luke's name has nothing to do with Star Wars. In fact, we could think of no other boy names that we liked at all, or I may have opted for a different name. I just think that this little guy was supposed to be named Luke!

Lucas Scott Arrives!

The long awaited day finally arrived! Lucas Scott Williams was born on September 5th, 2007 at 10:30 p.m. He weighed 8 lbs. 7 oz. at 20 inches long. (About a pound lighter than I had anticipated!) It was an exciting day from start to finish: Ethan started Kindergarten and Luke was born.
Labor and delivery was just under two hours, and I was able to manage it quite well. I guess that was part of my prize for waiting 9 days past my due date.
Walt brought the kids on Thursday afternoon to meet their new brother and to take us home. As you can see, Luke was well recieved. Since returning home it has been a battle between siblings as to who will get to hold him. It is nice to see that the kids already have such great love for this little guy.
Welcome to the world little one, and thank-you for blessing our family with your presence. I know very strongly that you needed to come to us, and thank heavens you did!

Ethan's First Day of Kindergarten

Today is Ethan's first day of Kindergarten. There was a lot of commotion this morning as we all awoke and were getting him off. I had to get those first day of school pictures that I have been so worried I would miss. It's funny how my prayers to be there for this moment were answered, but not how I had imagine they would be. I thought for sure the baby would have come before not after this moment. I am so grateful to have been there. It was probably more important for me than for Ethan.
Laurel had to give her big brother a hug and a kiss. Ethan took the hug happily, but the kiss was more than he had bargained for. As you can tell he didn't enjoy that nearly as much.
Ethan also enjoyed coming home on the bus. It was a good day for him!

YES, I'm still pregnant!

Today was church again, and everyone asked me if I was still pregnant. As if it isn't quite obvious! I took the opportunity to take this picture in my favorite maternity dress this time around. Well, we are still hoping the baby will come VERY soon. Today would be good. Tomorrow would be funny, it being Labor Day. I guess I'll have to continue to wait and see.
